OMB Prototype Glasses: 1/1

Nine months. Hundreds of hours of CAD. Hundreds more spent printing, breaking, adjusting, reprinting, finishing, and figuring out how to make something that didn’t exist yet.

The OMB Glasses started as an experiment by @ibuildcoolshit and became a full handmade prototype project. Every part of the process was worked through from scratch: the CAD design, 3D printing, bamboo arms, lens fitting, UV printing, finishing, and assembly.

Each pair is made from 3D-printed PLA, fitted with bamboo arms and polarized grey lenses, then UV printed and finished with a high-coat varnish. These are true prototypes—not factory-perfect production pieces. You may see the evidence of the process in them. That’s the point.

There is only one pair in each colorway. Each color is 1 of 1, with only five prototype pairs in the complete run.

And the project doesn’t end with the object. The 3D files, laser-cutting files, and instructions for making them were released for free. Months of work weren’t locked away as a secret—they were given back so someone else could build on them.

What remains here is the original artifact: one of the handful of physical prototypes that came out of all the failures, revisions, late nights, and eventually, the moment the damn thing actually worked.

Every pair includes a Lollipop authenticated tag, connecting the physical prototype to its provenance and confirming that it’s one of the originals.

Not production eyewear. Not mass manufactured. Not being made again.

A little rough around the edges. Ridiculously over-engineered. Hundreds of hours in the making.
